Top HVAC-Friendly Pets for Your Home Environment
Everyone loves having a furry friend running around the house to greet you when you come home and cuddle with you on the couch at the end of a long day. However, not everyone loves the dander and fur that comes along with having said fur baby, which also messes with your HVAC system and indoor air quality.
Luckily, there are some pets that are great companions and HVAC-friendly!
Goldfish
At the beginning of the “no dander, HVAC-friendly” pets is the humble goldfish. Low maintenance and a great starter pet for young children, goldfish have very little negative effect on your HVAC system or indoor air quality. In fact, as long as you clean the fish tank regularly (which you should for the fish’s sake) you can even be adding a little humidity to your home via the fish’s water.
Turtles
If you want a slightly more interactive pet, but aren’t too keen on other reptiles, why not get a turtle? These creatures are sociable, don’t shed (obviously), and don’t require too much maintenance. They’re also very HVAC-friendly, especially if you need to boost the humidity levels in your home since some species require higher humidity.
Sphynx Cats
While these hairless felines aren’t everyone’s cup of tea, they’re a great pet option for those who want a cat but don’t want all the hair and dander they shed. They offer all of the perks of a kitty without any of the hairballs or fur.
Low-Shedding Dogs
If you’re set on having a pooch in your home, there are some breeds (such as a miniature poodle, Maltese, and Bichon Frise) that don’t shed too much and are a bit more HVAC-friendly. And, in general, dogs with shorter coats are typically more HVAC-friendly than those with longer fur.
