Setting the Best Temperature for the Best Night's Sleep

Do you find yourself tossing and turning or constantly waking up throughout the night? While you may have considered the reasons why you can’t seem to sleep well, have you considered the possibility that your room isn’t the optimal temperature for sleeping? Believe it or not, there is a best temperature for the best night’s sleep!

Is There A Best Temperature for Sleeping?

Yes! According to the National Sleep Foundation, the temperature of your bedroom can have a big effect on how you sleep. Since your body’s internal temperature drops as you sleep, having your room too warm can negatively affect that dip and cause you to have trouble sleeping.

What Is the Best Temperature for the Best Night’s Sleep?

Ideally, your room should be between 60℉ and 70℉ for you to have the best night’s sleep, the sweet spot being 65℉. This temperature aligns best with your body’s internal temperature and can help avoid your feeling out of whack or overheated because your room is too hot or cold.

Does That Temperature Work for Everyone?

Yes and no. While 65℉ is typically the ideal temperature, everyone is different, so you should try experimenting what temperature works best for you — maybe it’s 62℉ or 67℉. And when it comes to infants’ or toddlers’ room, you may want to try setting the temperature closer to 70℉

What If I Still Have Trouble Sleeping?

If you don’t already, try wearing socks to bed or placing a hot water bottle near your feet. This helps dilate your blood vessels and adjusts your body’s internal temperature to an ideal setting.
