Signs Your AC Won’t Survive Summer’s Heat and Humidity
Once the summer heat rolls in, your AC basically becomes a member of the family \and a favorite one at that. You rely on it to keep your home cool and provide your family with relief from the humidity and heat outside. However, there are a few signs that there are a few signs that your AC won’t make it through the summer. If you don’t pay attention to them, you may find yourself without a cool home and needing AC repairs sooner than you thought you would.
Excessive Noise
You don’t need to be an HVAC professional to know when your unit is making too much noise. If you go near your AC and hear grinding, rattling, or screeching, you can bet that there’s at least one, if not more than one, partly damaged or broken part inside the unit. If you don’t call a professional for repairs, it probably won’t be long before your unit breaks down entirely.
High Humidity
If your AC was professionally installed, it should keep your home’s humidity at a comfortable level. If there’s mold or mildew around your home, that’s a sign that something’s wrong and your AC may not be performing at its best, especially if you have to set the thermostat lower than usual.
Uneven Cooling
Do you notice that it’s significantly cooler in one area of your home than it is in another? Unless you have zoned cooling, uneven temperatures are a telltale sign that the AC’s age is affecting its efficiency. You’ll want to upgrade your unit before you’re left with a hot home.
