23 Feb Carbon Monoxide Safety Tips
Carbon monoxide is a dangerous and poisonous gas. If your home heating system isn’t working correctly, you could end up with carbon monoxide in your home. That’s why it’s so important to have your heating and cooling system checked annually! Here are a few additional safety tips to help keep your family safe.
Safety Tips:
- Install an Alarm – Carbon monoxide detectors should be installed outside of each sleeping area, where they can be heard by everyone in the home.
- Test Alarms Regularly – Test your alarms once a month and replace the batteries when they are low.
- Don’t Warm Up Vehicles Indoors – We know that it’s cold outside, but make sure you warm up your vehicle outdoors. Running vehicles in your garage can cause carbon monoxide to build.
- Clear Snow – Make sure your home’s vents and car exhaust pipe are free of snow. Proper ventilation will help keep CO from accumulating.
