18 Dec How to Winterize Your Home
Is your home ready for the winter? Freezing temperatures can put your plumbing system at risk. Even if the temperature drops for a short period of time, frozen water can cause your pipe to fracture. Here are a few tips to help you avoid winter plumbing problems this year!
Winter Plumbing Tips:
- Insulation – Make sure your pipes are well-insulated! Even a tiny hole in your crawl space or vent can let cold air blow in. Be sure to fill in any cracks.
- Close Garage – If you bathroom or laundry room is located above or next to you garage, the space can get cold quickly. Keep your garage door closed to keep the heat inside!
- Open Cabinet Doors – If you’re anticipating a particularly cold day, keep your vanity doors open to allow heat inside. You could also consider investing in a space heater.
- Disconnect Hoses – If you haven’t disconnected your garden hose yet, you should do so soon. You don’t want your hose to freeze over the winter!
