16 Jun Summer Air Conditioning Prep
Hot summer days are right around the corner. The best way to keep cool throughout the season is by checking your air conditioning system. A simple tune up can make sure that your AC is ready to go on hot days. Here are a few ways to keep your system running smoothly.
Air Conditioning Tune Up:
- Change the Filters – You should check your air conditioner’s filters once a month. A clogged filter will slow airflow through the unit, which could cause your unit to shut down. Changing your filters or upgrading to a different type of filter can help to avoid this issue.
- Check the Condensate-Removal System – Air conditioning systems have a number of ways that they correct for condensation. If you have a pump, check to make sure it is functioning properly. If there is no pump, you may have a kill switch. Test the switch so that you don’t have an overflow.
- Clear Any Debris – Outdoor condensers need free flow of air surrounding the unit. Make sure that no shrubs, wood piles, or low hanging branches have grown in the way of the system.
- Check Ductwork – Look to see if there is any mold growing in the ducts. You should also check to make sure that the connections are sealed and that there are no holes or corrosion.
